Relieves colic pains in intestinal tract and uterus.
According
to Romayne Gallagher, MD, of medbroadcast.com, "It turns out that
healing is actually delayed when pain caused by tissue damage is not
relieved. A number of studies suggest that uncontrolled pain has an
adverse effect on our immune system. Continuous pain also appears to
lower our body's ability to respond to stressful situations such as
surgery, chemotherapy, and psychological stress."
The
veterinarians at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary School are
proponents of pain control for pets. They point out that the "benefits
include improved respiratory functions, decreasing stress responses
surrounding surgery, decreased length of hospitalization, faster
recovery to normal mobility, improved rates of healing and even
decreasing the spread of cancer after surgery.
Almost
all studies show people and animals return to normal eating and
drinking habits sooner when given relief from pain. Therefore
prevention, early recognition and aggressive management of pain and
anxiety should be essential to veterinary care of small mammals. The
current approach is to be sensitive to the subtle signs of pain,
because the treatment of pain itself can be healing. Pain is stressful
and can prolong recovery."

*For heavier pets, add 5 drops for each 100 lbs increment.
Administer the appropriate dose in number of drops, as determined by the above weight-based nomogram (chart).
The standard dose of Pet’s Pain Formula is administered orally 1-3 times daily as needed for up to ten days. For oral use only. Do
not give to CATS or BIRDS as they can experience kidney failure when
given aspirin products. Not recommended for pregnant animals. An
overdose can cause miscarriage.
When treating more than one pet with the same dropper,
it is necessary to assure sterile administration without carry over
from pet to pet. The best way to assure this is to use the dropper only
to transfer product to an individual sterile oral syringe—a different
syringe for each pet. Those syringes should be sterilized after each
use. Each pet should have its own syringe that is not shared with
another pet. If a syringe is not readily available, then until one can
be found, then one may mix the product with a larger volume of flavored
fluid (e.g. tuna or salmon water) that is to be lapped from a bowl.
However, the use of a syringe assures a more accurate dose.
Long Term Use
Co-administration
of Pet’s Pain Formula with Adizone, Derma NERV or other Amber
Technology products is short term. However, there are clinical settings
in which Pet’s Pain Formula is utilized beyond a ten day regimen.
Pet’s Pain Formula may be used for many months with clinical drug
holidays as directed for refractory irritable bowel syndrome as well
as a variety of painful conditions, such as arthritis, pain from
trauma, old age and other conditions.
For
the first six months of long term use, three times daily Pet’s Pain
Formula is administered on a rotating basis—six week of product
administration followed by two days in which no product is given. This
six weeks on/two days off staggered schedule may continue as needed for
the first six months of chronic use, defined as chronic after the
initial ten days of administration. Administration of Pet’s Pain
Formula beyond six months mandates a one week holiday (break) from
product before re-starting the same rotating schedule.
Pet’s
Pain Formula may be administered as described for up to three
consecutive six month cycles. If further Pet’s Pain Formula is deemed
necessary for the pet, then a minimum six month period off the product
is mandated, as is clinical discussion with your veterinary health care
provider or with the staff at Amber Technology concerning
re-administration of Pet’s Pain Formula beyond that time period.
Warning
Keep Pet’s Pain Formula out of the reach of children under 16 years of age. DO NOT administer
Pet’s Pain Formula to CATS or BIRDS. While some ingredients in this
formula are very healthy for other animals, containing aspirin like
substance it is considered a feline poison. One must not exceed the
daily recommended dose. It is important to weigh your pet before
administration of this product to obtain accurate daily dosing.
The
safety profile for Pet’s Pain Formula has not been established in
pregnant or nursing animals and its use should be avoided in those
cases. The ingredient—Cat’s Claw, tends to lower blood pressure, which
is relevant in the context of infected animal’s baseline cardiovascular
status, which tends towards low blood pressure when septic.
Administration of Pet’s Pain Formula includes specifically-prescribed
interruptions in its use. Continuous use of Pet’s Pain Formula without
appropriate scheduled interruption is to be avoided, as it is
associated with clinically significant listlessness.
As
with any nutraceutical or pharmaceutical product, Pet’s Pain Formula
may cause an allergic reaction that may manifest as either skin
redness, urticaria (hives), peri-orbital edema (swelling around the
eyes), or as potentially serious respiratory dysfunction associated
with laryngeal edema. Any suggestion of allergic reaction, even the
most subtle, should alert the pet owner or veterinary health care
provider to cease any further administration of Pet’s Pain Formula and
to assess for interventional measures for such a reaction. One should
have all of the appropriate emergency contact information readily
available before starting this or any Nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or
nutritional supplement.
Early
but extensive experience with Pet’s Pain Formula suggests no signs or
symptoms of overdose beyond that which is reflected in a reduction in
the pet’s level of activity. For any questions concerning a potential
allergic reaction or the adverse reaction of listlessness should be
addressed by immediately contacting your veterinary health care
provider.
Use
of this product in the presence of endocrine pancreatic dysfunction
(e.g. diabetes mellitus or acute infectious pancreatitis) is
contraindicated.
Evidence
of liver disease is a relative contraindication due to the presence of
ethyl alcohol in this product (alcohol may be removed by protocol). All
benefits and risks of this product should be weighed appropriately
before use.
